Technology: Google and China – Politics
Well, Google decided today to stop censoring its search engine results in China, ignoring China’s political situation. I am not with or against the decision, but I have an observation. The US Government was backing Google throughout the whole standoff with China, from the grounds that free speech is a basic human right. Well, I agree, but it is ironic how the US allowed wiretapping after the tragic events of September 11! I can’t see any difference between China’s position now and the US decision that allowed wiretapping. Also, The US Congress passed a bill few months back to penalize satellite companies that host TV stations connected to “Terrorist Groups”! Again, I can’t see any difference! Conclusion, free speech is only one way, The American Way!
Politics: Arabs!
Arab states have agreed yesterday to a US proposal for indirect Palestinian-Israeli talks. No, I’m not kidding! I am serious. After the Israeli’s aggressive attitude towards sacred places in West Bank, Arabs “retaliated” and decided to declare war against Israel by accepting the US proposal for indirect Palestinian-Israeli talks! Well, when these talks were direct, Arabs have achieved nothing! What would be the result if these talks will be indirect!
The issue is not whether these talks are direct or indirect! It is the talks and negotiations with an “enemy”, at least for me, who showed complete arrogance and no interest in the Arab Peace Initiative.
Shame on us!
